Vodafone Group PLC has launched its mobile money transfer service MPesa in Ghana, the 11th market across its Africa, Asia and Europe segment.
The service is launched under the brand ‘Vodafone Cash’ following a successful pilot in August.
MPesa service had seen solid, accelerated growth in East Africa during 2015, most notable in Kenya and Tanzania said Vodafone.
“Vodafone Cash extends the revolution of mobile money to Ghana, liberating our customers from the risks associated with carrying cash at all times. The strong demand for the service following the pilot launched in August shows that Ghanaians greatly value the freedom, peace of mind, security and convenience that MPesa offers,” said Vodafone’s Director of Mobile Money Michael Joseph in a statement.
