Safaricom Mpesa NFC payment option coming soon


Safaricom Mpesa NFC payment option is coming soon. The Near Field Communication NFC payment capabilities is to be added to Safaricom’s mobile money platform MPesa.

Safaricom is currently testing the new PIN-based NFC-enabled ‘Tap-and-Go’ card for its MPesa mobile money service. The new offering will integrate with your existing MPesa account to enable payments using your smartphone. The pilot phase is currently being conducted among Safaricom staff.

The first reports on this were in March 2014, reportedly Safaricom was working to add NFC to its MPesa service.
